Ahh..Shopping

One of my guilty pleasures is shopping. I haven't really got to enjoy shopping since Colin arrived. I did go one day for my b-day sans Colin, but it wasn't so much fun b/c I was still carrying a lot of babymama weight. I'm a lot closer to my pre-Columbia weight (I am at my pre-pregancy weight, but striving for a few more pounds). I had a hair cut appt (another pleasure I rarely indulge in), and I had left early to do some garage sale-ing. I got downtown early, so I started looking for dresses for the many showers/weddings this spring/summer. Scott called and said the salon called and Curtis, hair dresser, was running 30-40 min. late. BONUS!! I got to continue shopping and I found some super cute dresses. It made me appreciate the time Scott allows me to get out the house for things other than work and groceries.

This is so funny

So I don't usually like forwards, but this is hilarious. Sorry for the profanity. Read on ladies and have a good belly laugh.

This is an actual letter from an Austin woman sent to American company Proctor and Gamble regarding their feminine products. It's PC Magazine's 2007 editors' choice for best webmail-award-winning letter.

Dear Mr. Thatcher,

I have been a loyal user of your 'Always' maxi pads for over 20 years and I appreciate many of their features. Why, without the LeakGuard Core or Dri-Weave absorbency, I'd probably never go horseback riding or salsa dancing, and I'd certainly steer clear of running up and down the beach in tight, white shorts. But my favorite feature has to be your revolutionary Flexi-Wings. Kudos on being the only company smart enough to realize how crucial it is that maxi pads be aerodynamic. I can't tell you how safe and secure I feel each month knowing there's a little F-16 in my pants.

Have you ever had a menstrual period, Mr. Thatcher? I'm guessing you haven't. Well, my time of the month is starting right now. As I type, I can already feel hormonal forces violently surging through my body. Just a few minutes from now, my body will adjust and I'll be transformed into> what my husband likes to call 'an inbred hillbilly with knife skills.' Isn't the human body amazing? As Brand Manager in the Feminine-Hygiene Division, you've no doubt seen quite a bit of research on what exactly happens during your customer's monthly visits from 'Aunt Flo'. Therefore, you must know about the bloating, puffiness, and cramping we endure, and about our intense mood> swings, crying jags, and out-of-control behavior. You surely realize it's a tough time for most women. The point is, sir, you of all people must realize that America is just crawling with homicidal maniacs in Capri pants...

Which brings me to the reason for my letter. Last month, while in the throes of cramping so painful I wanted to reach inside my body and yank out my uterus, I opened an Always maxi-pad, and there, printed on the adhesive backing, were these words: 'Have a Happy Period.' Are you f------ kidding me? What I mean is, does any part of your tiny middle-manager brain really think happiness - actual smiling, laughing happiness, is possible during a menstrual period? Did anything mentioned above sound the least bit pleasurable? Well, did it, James? FYI, unless you're some kind of sick S&M freak, there will never be anything 'happy' about a day in which you have to jack yourself up on Motrin and Kahlua and lock yourself in your house just so you don't march down to the local Walgreen's armed with a hunting rifle and a sketchy plan to end your life in a blaze of glory. For the love of God, pull your head out, man! If you have to slap a moronic message on a maxi pad, wouldn't it make more sense to say something that's actually pertinent, like 'Put down the Hammer' or 'Vehicular Manslaughter is Wrong', Sir, please inform your Accounting Department that, effective immediately, there will be an $8 drop in monthly profits, for I have chosen to take my maxi-pad business elsewhere. And though I will certainly miss your> Flex-Wings, I will not for one minute miss your brand of condescending> bullshit. And that's a promise I will keep. Always.

Best, Wendi Aarons Austin , TX

9 months old

Cruising

That's a new face!

Good Morning!

Colin had his 9 month well-baby check-up. Everything was fine. He weighed 19 lbs 6 oz-30th percentile, 28 inches--40th percentile, and head in the 50-60th percentile. Still a bit of a bobble-head, but he's getting taller finally. He's looking more and more like a little boy instead of a baby. He's trimming down a bit-even his fingers. He's incredibly busy. Today he pulled the lid off his diaper pail and pulled shook a vaseline jar off his changing table and then opened the jar and started dipping his hands in it. All this happened in a blink of an eye. The kid's lightning fast. He loves to walk behind his lion. I need to get some video of this. He pulls up on it and starts going.

Oh how they change

Every week he is so different. This week he has changed so much. He pulled himself all the way up on this toy, and cruised around part of it.

Climbing into our "entertainment center" is a new pasttime. He's not scared to go up, but he doesn't know how to get down. The first day (first 2 pics) I started laughing as soon as he made it up, and he turned himself around. Today I was ready with the camera to catch him in the up process.

In the last week Colin has been in a hurry to learn/try out new things. It's been very hectic, but a lot of fun. He's been "helping" a lot--vacuuming, unloading the dishwasher, feeding the dogs, doing laundry, etc. Things seem to take twice as long. He is pulling up on anything that is low-ish. No pulling up on sofas or coffee tables, but everything else is fair game.
Enjoying some bath playtime. He loves baths. He LOVES to play with his froggy, rubber ducky and a bath book that the Osbornes gave him. He also enjoys splashing and crawl swimming in the tub. He has no fear!

Graduated to his "big boy" seat. He likes all the extra room.
As you can see, the poor little guy is dealing with sebhhoric dermatitis (I know I didn't spell that correctly). He just rubs and rubs his face into his bedding, and it rubs his face raw.
One not so cute thing for the week is waking up in the middle of the night screaming. I don't know if his ears are still bothering him or what. He has learned to pull himself up to standing in his crib, but I haven't snapped that yet. It is really cute, but Scott's out of town and we need to move his mattress down again, but I don't know how to do it, so I'm so scared he will try to climb out or fall out when he awakes in the night.
