Mystery night

We had a great weekend recently.  We got to visit our friends from BlmNormal and attend a murder mystery dinner.  We had a blast.  We really got to maximize our hang out time b/c grandparents were taking care of the kids the whole time.  It was tough keeping up with the late nights since I'm preggers, but it was worth it.  I really thought we might get kicked out of the restaurant we ate lunch at we were such a rowdy group of adults.  The mystery was set in 1930s Britain, but we look a bit gangster, too. Here's just a few photos.

We were all assigned a character.  Scott, a lawyer and golfer; me the wealthy man's secretary; Bree, a sexy American starlet; and Stan, a doctor. Stan's bag was magical.  He had it stuffed full of premade shots and mini-liquors.  He would say, "Anyone have an earache?" and pull one out.

The whole crew. The other guests were, a wealthy businessman, an heiress/eyeshadow model, the host's bastard son and avid mountain climber, and a famous author.

this picture cracks me up.  this was at the very end.  not one person guessed the correct murderer.  we were all fooled.

Avengers Party Part 5: Guests/Candids cont.

A few last photos. I somehow misplaced the Hawkeye mask sometime after Colin was playing with it earlier in the week. I'm puzzled.

I had these cute little signs for the food that I didn't get a photo of, so I will try to get one of that, too.

Cupcakes! Still not the best photo...oh well.

Enjoying his new sprinkler from Aunt Laura and Uncle Dave.

Avengers Party Part 4: Guests/ Candids

Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man.  We just needed a Thor!

S.H.I.E.L.D agents Maria Hill and Black Widow

The Hulk and Wasp-- we were committed!

Laura trying out the Hulk hands

Avengers Party Part 3: Cake and gifts

We headed inside b/c it was soooo hot for cake and presents to let the kids cool down from destroying Loki.

Not a great photo, but we had a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing.  C and I sprinkled the arc reactor on it.  The cupcakes turned out really well, and looked good. I will try to get a better photo with what I have left.  I had made cupcake trays to look like the arc reactor and Captain America's shield.  We also had bomb pops, too for people that didn't want cake.

He blew out his candles in one try.  I was impressed.

Colin got some really cool gifts!  We, along with my parents gave him the swingset.

He also got a cool fire hydrant sprinkler attachment from Dave and Laura.  He totally enjoyed it after everyone left.  Most friends know that C gets a bit anti-social when lots of people are here.

He also got some nifty Avengers undies from Aunt Laura and Uncle Dave

Examining his new Avengers Squinkies from AJ and Elise.  He had never seen them before, but was smitten. He's been carrying them around He also got money for the movies and a new glider for his playset from grandma and grandpa; a CEC gift card from Jack and Brody; and a bags game from Aunt Sarah and Uncle Mitch. He is pumped!

Avengers Party Part 2: Activities

We had superhero battling versus Loki

bow and arrow

using water guns

AJ as ant man

Captain America and Hulk training

smashing Loki

Black Panther stretching

Brody defending himself with the shield

More smashing

more playing

almost the kill blow. loki was decapitated pretty quickly

some threw the Hammer Mjolnir at Loki, too

Wasp, Ant man, and Iron Man posing.  The kids weren't super excited about this part.  I wish I'd gotten the adults to do it, too.  All that work for 5 pictures.  The heat definitely impacted things.
