A little late...but a 10 yr anniversary post

So, I should have posted this yesterday, but better late than never.  See this post from last year for a trip through each year.  Today is dedicated to our wedding day.  10 years ago yesterday Scott and I said "I do."

A little weekend time and Red Envelopes

We rushed to St. Louis this weekend to start house hunting, so our Red Envelope stuff sort of happened, but some of it got a bit squished, but we're all caught up.

we got a new nativity set that we opened and put out together as we read the Christmas story from Luke.

the other activity we did was we got a willow tree ornament (angel) for Stella and hung it on the tree.  It's one where the angel is holding a lantern--the angel of hope it's called.  C loves it, and we do, too. 

Tonight we are headed to buy the last Xmas gifts--gifts for our doggies.  We are ALL going to Petco, dogs included to do a little shopping.  C was so excited when I told him.  He started cracking up.

Santa visit

C and I finished up a morning appt, so we were able to squeeze in a trip to the local library to see Santa and join in some Xmas songs, books, and a fun craft.

This is the first year C has wanted to see Santa since he was 5 months old and didn't know any better.  He was cooperative, but didn't want to talk to Santa or sit on his lap, but next to him was just fine.  He knew it wasn't really Santa b/c C is too smart to make up a complicated lie why Santa is at the mall and the library and gajillion other places.  I just told him they are his helper Santas that report back to him much like the Elf on the Shelf.

Red Envelopes 3 and 4

The red envelope activities are going off great.  Day 3 we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas, which C loved.  Day 4 we spread some Christmas cheer to another family.  So we gave a secret gift to some friends.  We attempted to do it anonymously, but they figured out it was us.

We gave a nativity set to some friends who I knew wanted one/didn't have one.  It was so much fun trying to sneak around to leave it on their porch, ring the bell, and run.  Scott said he didn't realize I could move so fast.  This will definitely be a tradition of ours. It was too much fun to not repeat. 

Here's the little man checking his email from Santa, which was so cute...but I'm pretty sure contained a minor virus that my anti-virus spotted and blocked, so I'm not going to recommend it.  C did love it though.

Red envelope: Day 2

Last night C opened the second envelope to discover we were picking a gift out that honors Jesus.


He chose 5 ducks and 2 chickens as his gift.

Scott and I chose a share in 2 oxen and a plow (as suggested by C)

And our family gave a small gift to Xmas gifts to kids in the US

He loved talking about the animals, and how the animals would help someone. We are going to make this a Xmas tradition.

C was sooo excited about his Red Envelope activity.  He ate a great, quick dinner, and was ready to go look at lights.

we took some snacks, but still had to stop for a small fry for the small fry.

the best display in my opinion: someone had converted their 3rd car garage space into a nativity scene--complete with stable backdrop.  the picture doesn't do it justice, but it was cool.
