Party Power
I promise lots of photos to come. The party was a huge success. I hope everyone had fun. I know I did. It turned out exactly like I hoped.

The Many Faces of Super C
"Hey, other flash. We need to go upstairs and see in the dark." Quote by C tonight while playing superheroes w/daddy. He still plays his same game w/collecting justice leaguers b/c the kid knows the difference b/w Marvel heroes and Justice League Heroes.
For his bday present he wanted all superhero clothes--no lie. He picked out Green Lantern pjs (which he wore for almost 48 hours straight at home--he wore other clothes when we left the house both days), Batman pjs, a homemade flash shirt, and shirts of capt. america and spider-man. The kid is obsessed. I didn't get pics of most of the stuff, but he really wanted daddy and him to wear the homemade flash shirts tonight. The big one is for grandpa to wear for C's party.

Up, up, and away
When Scott got home from work last night he brought home a Green Lantern shirt (I had actually purchased it to give him from C for father's day, but our Macy's had the wrong size, so he exchanged it in Peoria after work). C was so excited when Scott tried it on at home. He immediately asked to play supeheroes. Our bed became their ship, and they were on a mission to collect other justice leaguers. They collected Flash, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Superman, and Aqua Man. It was hilarious to watch and listen to C boss Scott around. C was SuperWhy at first, but then they switched. First thing when he woke up this morning he asked me to play with him. He's been wearin the GL shirt for almost 2 hours now.
I personally love superheroes, so I'm so glad he's into them. I loved pretending to be wonder woman when I was a little girl, so I can relate to playing this stuff much better than cars or something like that.

Cousins!
C absolutely adores is cousins. Nic was only here for about 18 hours (and C was asleep over 10 of those), but they packed it full of fun.
We ended the night with a walk to Carl's. C tried everyone else's ice cream. He ate his own ice cream and cone, sampled everyone, and finished Papa's cone, too. He loves Carl's!

This month has flown by. A recap is in order
C has run 3 races, and last week he did really great
Scott had a birthday. We celebrated across 3 weekends for his bday and Father's Day--seriously.
I have been working on C's superhero party--I hope it turns out.
Just normal every day stuff to keep up with.
A quick visit from my parents and oldest nephew (pics will be in another post)
A trip to St. Louis that started off the bday celebration.
2 carnivals (one here and one in St. Louis)
A little boy who tells us he needs to go pottie every time (finally) and doesn't wear pull ups anymore except overnight. (only had a couple of naptime accidents)
Here are some snapshots---few and far between.
what is Batman doing? we discovered he loves the old stuff too--like Adam West's Batman--he was so into the movie we found on tv Sat afternoon. He just LOVES superheroes.
and finally a pic of my short hair. this is from the day I had it cut. i don't really wear it like this--it's pretty windblown here, but i haven't taken any pictures of me since that first day. my MIL took these, so i could have a picture to take to a hair stylist to recreate the cut.

it's a blur but I love this pic--can you tell he's waving? he's so big on the carousel now.
feeding the goats. he went inside the pen, but got scared from the mauling--these poor goats were starving
cooling off under the sprayers
checking out the clydesdales
a couple of weeks ago we met some friends at a fun community park for play and a picnic. C loves checking out the geese, ducks, and fish there. You can get very close to the pond's edge. This park is great b/c it has rubber on the playground instead of mulch or rocks, so if it's been rainy the kids can still play w/o getting a muddy mess. We've had tons of rain this month.
the bday cake C and I made for daddy. it was a homemade yellow cake. we made a rasberry, chocolate, banana filling for it, and then buttercream frosting. the crazy colors were to test out some colors for C's bday. it looks tie dyed kind of
this was the GIANT slide C went down all by himself. Scott was going to go with him, but the worker at the top sent C down alone. I was far away waiting in line to get a drink (which is why this pic is terrible), but I thought C was going to fly off the slide. I was scared. He popped up at the bottom and started dancing. He was very proud of himself. He rode a mini-ferris wheel by himself, too (and several other rides). He's getting so brave. At the little fair near St. Louis he did inflatable slides by himself and a little funhouse.
hanging out at the children's discovery museum with his buddy Max.
organizing his superhero trading cards (made by me) he has villains, too. do you see the marvel handout up on the box. he studies those pics from his handful heroes (mini heroes/villains you can keep in your pocket)
playing with them while he watches DC superfriends on tv

I am here
I promise to do better. I have these lulls in my blogging every few months. I just don't feel like I have much to say. We have been either traveling or dealing with a sick little boy over the last month--at least that's how it feels. We have also been doing the insanity program (workout dvds) that are intense, and take up a lot of time since we do them together at night. I have also been busy planning all the stuff for C's upcoming bday (lots of pics eventually).
In the midst of this we celebrated Scott's father's day and bday. C and I are going to try to make a cake today, but I'm not sure it's going to happen. We didn't do anything special this weekend really, but have some friends coming over to celebrate this coming weekend. We had a short visit from my parents, who brought my oldest nephew with them to see C. C was so excited to see his cousin--he adores him. They were so cute together. My nephews are both so sweet to C--even when he isn't deserving...i.e. tackling or hitting them. C has run 2 of the summer races. Let's say he's not real thrilled by distance running. He wants it to be over quick. Perseverance is going to be something we need to work on/instill in him. I haven't taken many pictures in the last month, but maybe I can dig some up. We are headed to the park, so I will try to take some then.

This week
This week has been "challenging" to say the least. I've missed out on a lot of fun since C was sick all week long. Sigh. We had to cancel all our plans for the week. I did get to go to a ladies night Wednesday night, which is good--b/c everyone knows I start nearing combustion if I don't have social time at least once a week. I feel like I'm coming down w/what C has now. I have sneezed probably 100 times today (and it's only 2). We did do 2 things w/C where we thought he would have little to no touch interaction w/other kids. We went out to Avanti's (a local Italian family eatery) on Thursday night. They were having throwback specials for their 40th anniversary. We waited almost 40 minutes for a table b/c we were given some bad advice about the line outside (they told us it was one line, but misunderstood we were looking for the dining room line). Anyway, C did as well as can be expected of a hungry, tired, sick, grumpy little 2 yr old waiting that long. He wasn't bad, but about 30 minutes into the wait his listening skills took a plummet. It was our first time there, and we enjoyed it.
Friday I had to skip a playdate I had organized at one of our favorite parks (not happy about that). I have tons of snacks I guess I will have to reuse another time-thankfully they aren't perishable, really. C really wanted to run the races last night since he'd already missed the first one. We thought he wouldn't be touching anyone else, and he seemed much improved after his nap, so we rushed around to get there in time. We missed the run for 2 year olds by about 60 seconds, so he had to run w/the three year olds. They do a full lap around the track at that age. He survived, but he ran into a friend about 20 ft in, and scraped his knee bad. It was downhill from there. I had to carry him about a 1/4 of the way, and he kept intermittently whining he didn't want to race anymore.
Then we went to the juice/cookie stand afterwards and ran into lots of friends--whom he felt the need to touch. Sorry friends if our child gave your child a cold. He could not keep his hands off his friend Max, and the urge was mutual. They took turns tackling each other for about 15 minutes--after they tired of tackling me and Scott. C also had to switch into his race shirt during refreshments b/c he saw so many other kids wearing it. We came home and played outside for a while.
This morning I dragged C to the gym bright and early, then we went to the Farmer's Market (enjoyed some treats), then the post office, then to lunch, and then to look at a van. It was the breaking point by the time we got to the van (about 4.5 hours into being away from home). He freaked out if he didn't get to be wear he wanted in the van, which was usually the driver's seat. It was so embarrassing, but the salesman didn't even flinch. He obviously has kids of his own!
I think we are just hanging out the rest of the day, but are hoping to hit the pool with some friends tomorrow.
waiting in the wrong line (thankfully his lunchbox was filled with cars to play with inside)
