This weekend
Can't wait to see friends this weekend!!!! I hope we can take Colin for his first trip to the zoo since it's supposed to be nice. Colin is feeling icky again, so I hope the warmer weather zaps it quick. I've never has so many colds in a season until Colin. We just can't seem to completely shake it, so it just comes back after a week or so.

It just gets you right there
I'm so sad today to hear about more layoffs across America. It's easy to push that stuff to the back of your mind when it doesn't directly affect you or those you love, but I've been thinking about all those people without jobs. I may be joining their ranks. My school district is facing great financial difficulty, and I'm feeling like I will most likely get the axe. That's putting it too strongly...I will not likely be renewed for next year. I have mixed feelings. I don't want to go to work full time--I don't think Scott, Colin, or I could survive. I'm just not organized enough to do it all. I like being able to work part time, and I don't know if I'll enjoy not working at all. Of course there is the financial fear that accompanies this possibility as well. It is hard to trust God in times like these amidst such uncertainty, but there is little else to do.

I'm so stupid!
Another example of how my brain is mush. I lost my cell phone last week. I ended my cell phone service in November and got a Virgin Mobile phone to save some money. Unfortunately I lost my phone last Wednesday. I thought it fell out of my coat pocket on the way into school. This was so frustrating b/c Colin was so sick and I was unreachable by my sitter. Anyway, Saturday I had a bunch of errands to run, so armed with Scott's cell phone in case he needed to reach me, I bit the bullet and went to Best Buy to replace my phone. Not a big deal you can get them very cheaply ($9.99). I bought one, and it took 45 min. to do the whole swap b/c of the crowded store and problem with Virgin's website (which I always experience). I continued my errands. I was had finished at my next stop, and getting in my car, and I heard a phone ring. It wasn't my new phone and Scott's phone is usually on vibrate. I look around and what do I see? My old phone stuck b/w my seat and the console. Crap!!!. I just wasted an hour of precious time and $10 dollars for nothing. Had I just tried to call my phone and go out to my car I could have saved myself a huge headache (being w/o my cell phone Thurs. and Fri. and Scott being out of town, and Colin being sick and needing to go to the doctor) , but I had frozen my phone b/c I thought someone else might be in possession. Well, now I have a backup in case I decide to lose/not lose my phone again. Am I the only one who does this sort of stuff?
Some pics
This is from his first attempt at rice cereal in December. We've come a long way. He has loved everything he has tried. We are still working our way through orange veggies, but are almost to the green veggies. Such a good eater.
He is ever so serious. He has so much Cardinals gear that is absolutely adorable. He can just now where this hat which is sized Newborn. He grabbed it off the wall this day, so I tried it on him with his Cardinals sweatshirt. The result-absolutely cute!

Colin at 6 months
Colin is 6 months old and changing every day. Currently he has a nasty common cold, courtesy of mommy and daddy. It breaks your heart to see your little one suffering.
We went to the doctor, and he weighed 16 lbs 5 oz ( I have a feeling he weighed more a week ago b/c he's not eating much). His weight and length were under the 50th percentile (I think the 30th), but his head circumference was over the 50th. The doc says that means his brain is developing well, and he's got a nice lean frame. Scott says that means we have a bobble head baby.

Colin at 6 months:
- Still has just 2 teeth, but the doctor says his top four could come at any time
- Sits up with a little help, and can keep himself balanced as long as something isn't too far out of reach or when he's just lazy
- Can remarkably maneuver himself w/o being able to crawl through rolling and scrunching
- Has tried rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and bananas. Seems to like them all
- Smiles a lot, but has an extremely serious side
- Carries on conversations with his toys, especially in his carseat and in his crib
- Drools and chews on everything within reach--especially loves paper and remotes
- Loves other children and most everybody (thankfully, no separation anxiety yet)
- Continues to light up our lives and causes us to be thankful for God's many blessings
I'll post an updated picture once he's feeling better. I did take some cute ones last week in Cardinals gear.

Back to the Grind
Ho-hum. The holidays are over, and now commences my least favorite time of year. I HATE winter and the cold and gloom. It seems especially cruel after the build up of the holidays. The holidays were great, but I think I had too much fun. I feel a day behind in all aspects of my life. I didn't feel prepared for work today or yesterday. I don't think I'll feel ahead of the curve until next week. I didn't get near as much done over the break as I should have. I felt sick for a chunk of the break, so I was unmotivated to grade. Scott and I played too much after New Year's so we didn't get our tree down when we usually do, so that has added to the stress. We got all the decorations down last night, but now it's still sitting in the living room, waiting until Friday to be put out of its misery.
