This Weekend: part 1

Friday night: high school football game.

He loved it.  He kept saying, "Go football"  I kept telling him this isn't a generally accepted cheer, but he should say something like, "Good tackle,"  "Go Wildcats," or "Go team."  He decided he could say all of these and still use his standby.
He loved the marching band as well.  We last 1 quarter and half time basically--too close to bedtime.  He sat on Scott's lap most of the time, which was a miracle.  It was super windy, so he wanted his hood up to protect his ears.

This morning we headed to the Peoria Zoo--we have a membership w/our local reciprocating zoo, so it was free.  It was great.  They had an amazing Africa exhibit.  The animals had lots of room for a zoo, and in the Africa exhibit you could see the animals from 360 degree views above on these bridges.  Super cool.

His favorite this morning: the camel--both real and fake.  We had to go for a second look.

He really enjoyed the lions as well.  You could see them from above a little lookout, and through 2 plexiglass windows (large).  The male lion loved to hang out at the windows.  The female lion liked to "attack" the male to try to get him to play--lots of fun to watch.  C was not scared--miracle.  When they ran toward the glass it gave me pause.

Enjoying the gift shop.

Surprisingly he loved the tigers this morning.  They were really lazy, but moving around enough to keep his interest--and more importantly no roaring.  They were beautiful, and you could really see them.  They kept yawning for us--giant mouth and teeth.   So much fun to see them so up close.

In other matter: what the heck happened to the weather.  We were wearing jeans and jackets this morning.  Cool snap!  It was great for viewing the zoo.

Next on the horizon: a little church fair in the neighborhood and a minor league baseball game tomorrow.  Then we clean and start packing for the trip.
