Big Boy Room

Here are the pics I know you've been holding your breath for! Converting the bed created some changes in the room configuration as we moved the placement of the bed away from the dormer wall--which led to changing a few other pieces' placements.

he does great w/just the one rail on the bed.  he is so tiny in the bed (which is usually covered by lovies)

proud

happy. so we had bought this twin quilt before C was born--thinking he would go into a twin bed first--fast forward and Scott moves him into a full size w/little planning.  Now we had a pottery barn twin quilt we couldn't use (gasp--huge gasp). So I obsessed looking for bedding I liked as well that wasn't ridiculously expensive. He just kept saying--I like what I already have--but momma didn't like al the bed showing on the sides.  We found this really thin, brightly colored "quilt" set from Meijer on super clearance ($34.99 for quilt, shams, and bed skirt), and it blends right in with his quilt he already loved--which is folded at the foot of the bed, and will be used on cold nights.  C's room is so hot, a thin quilt was best. The colors really brighten up his room--as well as the bed in the center of the room.  All his vintage sports stuff seems to be pulled together now--even though so much of it can't be seen except from certain angles (it's amazing how different it looks in a big room as opposed to his original small room in CoMo)

a new play nook on the other side of his bed--we moved this chest of drawers from the other side of the dormer--which is so much better- b/c it's mostly empty except for linens and a few toys.

we moved this table (handbuilt by Scott's dad and hand finished by his mom) that converts to a changing table to the nook by his closet b/c this used to be where the bed is now.  We used the stuff on this all the time, so I changed its function.  Now it holds C's toys that he keeps in his room--perfect.

We moved his nightstand on the other side of the glider, so he can use it for books in bed, and we moved all his books off the bottom shelf of the above table (they are in 2 huge bins) to the floor next to the chair.  This way all the books are easily accessible from the reading chair and C's bed.  Not ideal since the bins are just on the floor--but it's a good solution now w/o having to spend any money.

Generally he LOVES his revamped room
