C has been so into this book this past week. It was a favorite of his in June when we borrowed it from the library. Sarah and Mitch got it for him for his b-day, and we read it a lot. It kind of got cycled out of the favorites for a while, but would occasionally make an appearance. In the last week he's become fascinated by it again. To my surprise last night, he told me he wanted to read it. He can read 5 or 6 of the 14 pages at least. He isn't really reading, but memorizing it. They all have a rhythm to the pages, but it's amazing to hear him say words like "a milk-hungry heifer" and "vitamin d dose." It's about construction vehicles, city maintenance vehicles, and few other types of trucks. Each page (except the last) is about a specific truck. The drawings make the trucks look alive--kind of like monsters. The last page has stats about each truck. His current favorite is the milk tanker truck--which he was terrified of until last week b/c it looks kind of like a bull.
Here's the words to the last page--which he has memorized.
Monster trucks, monster trucks
Mighty, massive monster trucks
They squash and crush,
churn and crunch,
pack and stack ,
and Mix and Munch
