This week

This week has been "challenging" to say the least.  I've missed out on a lot of fun since C was sick all week long.  Sigh.  We had to cancel all our plans for the week.  I did get to go to a ladies night Wednesday night, which is good--b/c everyone knows I start nearing combustion if I don't have social time at least once a week.  I feel like I'm coming down w/what C has now.  I have sneezed probably 100 times today (and it's only 2).  We did do 2 things w/C where we thought he would have little to no touch interaction w/other kids.  We went out to Avanti's (a local Italian family eatery) on Thursday night.  They were having throwback specials for their 40th anniversary. We waited almost 40 minutes for a table b/c we were given some bad advice about the line outside (they told us it was one line, but misunderstood we were looking for the dining room line).  Anyway, C did as well as can be expected of a hungry, tired, sick, grumpy little 2 yr old waiting that long.  He wasn't bad, but about 30 minutes into the wait his listening skills took a plummet.  It was our first time there, and we enjoyed it.

waiting in the wrong line (thankfully his lunchbox was filled with cars to play with inside)

Friday I had to skip a playdate I had organized at one of our favorite parks (not happy about that).  I have tons of snacks I guess I will have to reuse another time-thankfully they aren't perishable, really.  C really wanted to run the races last night since he'd already missed the first one.  We thought he wouldn't be touching anyone else, and he seemed much improved after his nap, so we rushed around to get there in time.  We missed the run for 2 year olds by about 60 seconds, so he had to run w/the three year olds. They do a full lap around the track at that age.  He survived, but he ran into a friend about 20 ft in, and scraped his knee bad.  It was downhill from there.  I had to carry him about a 1/4 of the way, and he kept intermittently whining he didn't want to race anymore.

Then we went to the juice/cookie stand afterwards and ran into lots of friends--whom he felt the need to touch. Sorry friends if our child gave your child a cold.  He could not keep his hands off his friend Max, and the urge was mutual.  They took turns tackling each other for about 15 minutes--after they tired of tackling me and Scott.  C also had to switch into his race shirt during refreshments b/c he saw so many other kids wearing it.  We came home and played outside for a while.

This morning I dragged C to the gym bright and early, then we went to the Farmer's Market (enjoyed some treats), then the post office, then to lunch, and then to look at a van.  It was the breaking point by the time we got to the van (about 4.5 hours into being away from home).  He freaked out if he didn't get to be wear he wanted in the van, which was usually the driver's seat.  It was so embarrassing, but the salesman didn't even flinch.  He obviously has kids of his own!

I think we are just hanging out the rest of the day, but are hoping to hit the pool with some friends tomorrow.

Good to see you guys (briefly) last night. I figured C must've been feeling better! He seemed in good spirits, despite the scraped knee... little trooper :)

hope you are not getting sick. Looks like scattered thunderstorms tomorrow. I will give you a call about 1pm and we can make plans then.
